Below we have a graph made by and presented by Future Learn and it just shows us what steps firms can take to start operating in more of an eco-friendly manner. It starts by saying how developing green warehouses and practicing green warehousing can be a good starting point for any company in the logistics and transportation field. Green warehousing can mean a variety of things such as making sure the source of power for the warehouse comes from an Eco-friendly source. It can also mean to make sure the operations happening on the inside of the warehouse are also Eco-friendly and this can be achieved by ensuring all operations are as lean as possible. It also talks about the transportation side of being Eco-friendly and it starts out by talking about Reverse Logistics. Reverse Logistics is “Process of planning, implementing and controlling the efficient, cost-effective flow of raw materials, in-process inventory, finished goods and related information from the point of consumption to the point of origin for the purpose of recapturing value or proper disposal” (Rogers and Tibben-Lembke 1998). Reverse Logistics can be a variety of things such as simple things easy as just having reusable packaging. Also talks about how seeking more green or natural sources of energy would be a good idea for firms to look into and as technology currently stands this is something that has been looked into in recent years and well eventually take over the transportation industry.
